Heroic viticulture... What is it and where can I see it?

Heroic viticulture... What is it and where can I see it?

Next September, a new grape harvest campaign will begin. As it could not be otherwise, Comercial Mida will be present at it, supplying products to wineries as well as amateur wine growers.

As you well know, we are lovers of nature and landscape, not in vain our company is based in Taboada, a small town in the province of Lugo that is located in the heart of the Ribeira Sacra. Yes, you have understood correctly... we are in one of the most wonderful places to live, work and, above all, enjoy good wine.

We cannot miss this opportunity, taking advantage of our unbeatable location, to publicize a type of viticulture, at least different. It is about the deservedly called "Heroic Viticulture".

This type of grape harvest is carried out on particularly difficult terrain with a slope that can sometimes reach 100%. To overcome this unevenness, the vines are distributed on terraces or terraces and it is there where acrobat winegrowers have to carry out an arduous and complicated harvest entirely manually, although it is true that in some types of vineyard rails have been installed for vertical transport of boxes most of these do not have them and the porting work is done manually.

Few denominations of origin can boast of this type of viticulture and one of them is the Ribeira Sacra. This appellation is divided into 5 sub-areas: Amandi, Chantada, Quiroga-Bibei, Ribas del Miño and Ribas del Sil.

In turn, there are two other appellations in Spain that can use the "Heroic Viticulture" seal: Priorat (Catalonia) and Vinos de Lanzarote. At European level we can mentionthe Aosta Valley, in Italy, the island of Samos, in Greece or Côte Vermeille, in the French region of the Eastern Pyrenees. As you can see, exclusivity at the highest level.

From here, we recommend a visit to this natural paradise that is theRibeira Sacra where, in addition to being able to observe first-hand a harvest that honors centuries of wine tradition, it leaves no one indifferent.

Finally, remind you that we have a wide range ofwine products, which will surely be to your liking.
