The Strectis antiparasitic pipettes of Ceva are designed for the treatment and prevention of infestations by fleas and/or ticks in cats from 0 to 5 Kg . It is a veterinary drug that can be used as part of the strategy in the procedure for the control of Flea Allergy Dermatitis (FAD). Thanks to their components, these pipettes act as a effective insecticide and acaricide of immediate efficacy against new infestations by adult fleas (Ctenocephalides spp) and ticks (Rhipicephalus turanicus), protecting felines between 5 and 8 weeks . Helps prevent the multiplication of parasites by inhibiting the hatching of the eggs (ovicidal activity) and the development of the bugs. The fipronil It is an insecticide and acaricide that acts by contact on the central nervous system of arthropods such as fleas and ticks, until it causes their death. After its topical application, this element accumulates in the sebaceous glands and is progressively released to the hair surface through the hair follicles. For his part, the (S)-methoprene is an insect growth regulator (IGR) that inhibits the development of immature stages of insects and also acts by contact, protecting from further contamination with newly developed adult fleas.
Fleas and ticks in their different stages of development can infest cat baskets and common sleeping areas such as carpets and soft furnishings. In case of massive flea infestation and at the start of control measures, these areas should be treated with a environmental product appropriate. To reduce the environmental challenge of fleas, all household animals should be treated with a veterinary drug suitable for flea control.
INDICATIONS
Veterinary medicine formulated in pipette format that prevents and controls the presence and infestations of fleas and ticks in cats from 0 to 5 Kg.
ADVANTAGE
¿Antiparasitic pipettes can be used during pregnancy, lactation or lay?
Although studies with fipronil in laboratory animals have shown no teratogenic or foetotoxic effects, developmental effects (eg neurotoxicity) have been observed in rats in one study. The safety of the veterinary medicinal product in cats during pregnancy and lactation has not been established and, therefore, we recommend using the treatment only in accordance with the benefit/risk assessment made by the responsible veterinarian.
These pipettes are a type of spot-on solution. One pipette per animal corresponding to the minimum recommended dose of 12 mg/kg body weight (bw) fipronil Y 6 mg/kg bw of (S)-methoprene .
Care should be taken to avoid excessive wetting of the hair with the veterinary medicinal product, as this will produce a sticky appearance at the applied site. Treatment can be repeated every 5 weeks in cats, or as deemed appropriate based on the type and level of parasitic exposure. In the absence of appropriate studies, treatment should not be repeated at intervals shorter than 2 weeks.
